Valid 90 days; for company accounts, once per email domain. Free needs no card until the credit is used up; then usage beyond the limits is charged to a card every week.

In short

  • One account for five jobs: sanctions screening of customers and suppliers, full company dossiers graded from A to E, regulatory monitoring, public tenders and competitor intelligence, plus an Ask box that takes requests in plain words.
  • The risk is concrete: in the United States a civil sanctions penalty can reach $377,700 per violation or twice the value of the transaction, and it can apply even if you did not know who was behind the deal.
  • It works in the browser, with nothing to install. You start on Free with no card and a $50 welcome credit.
  • Four packages: Free at no cost, Professional $199, Business $990 and Enterprise $9,900 a month; the year costs 10 months. A dossier costs $490 in every package.
  • It is an information tool: decisions and legal obligations remain with your company.

Most companies choose customers and suppliers on price, quality and delivery time. The problems that cost the most usually sit elsewhere: an owner who ends up on a sanctions list, a supplier close to insolvency, a distributor with a fraud case pending, a new rule that changes how you can sell in a country.

Unicorn Intelligence brings these checks into one place. This article explains the problem it solves, which companies use it, how it works in practice and what the four packages cost.

The problem: risks that do not show on an invoice

Sanctions lists change every week. A customer that was clean when you signed can be listed months later, directly or through its owners. Authorities fine the company that deals with a listed party, even through an intermediary. The maximum penalties set by law are high:

  • United States, OFAC: up to $377,700 per violation or twice the value of the transaction; criminal penalties up to $1,000,000 and 20 years in prison. (source)
  • United States, BIS (export controls): up to $374,474 per violation or twice the value of the transaction. (source)
  • United Kingdom, OFSI: up to £1,000,000 or 50% of the value of the breach; criminal penalties up to 7 years in prison. (source)
  • European Union, Directive 2024/1226: fines on companies of at least 5% of worldwide turnover or €40,000,000, and prison terms of at least 5 years. (source)
  • Germany: fines on companies up to €40,000,000. (source)
  • Netherlands: fines on companies up to 10% of annual turnover. (source)

Maximum amounts set by law, as published by the authorities linked, checked on October 29, 2026.

Sanctions are only one part of the picture. An insolvent customer leaves unpaid invoices; an insolvent supplier can stop deliveries and keep your advance payments. Lawsuits and proceedings by authorities at a counterparty can reach you through claims, delays and questions from your bank. Meanwhile, new rules and public tenders appear in dozens of languages, and a competitor can change prices or raise money without you noticing.

Checking all of this by hand means spreadsheets, many websites and someone who remembers to look again. Unicorn Intelligence does the looking every day and tells you when something needs attention, with the official source and date of every item.

What Unicorn Intelligence does

Five services and one Ask box, in the same account:

  • Sanctions and counterparty screening: instant checks of any name against official sanctions lists, and daily monitoring of the names you upload, with a review log of every decision.
  • Company dossiers: a full report on a company with an overall grade from A to E and a traffic light. It covers registers, group, sanctions, court cases, proceedings by authorities, solvency, news and financial data.
  • Regulatory monitoring: new rules in the countries you choose, summarized in your language, with a link to the original text.
  • Public tenders: tenders from many countries matched to what you sell, with a translated summary, value, deadlines and documents.
  • Competitor and startup intelligence: signals on the competitors and sectors you follow, with a briefing every Monday.
  • Ask box: write what you need, for example "check this supplier" or "follow tenders for software in Italy", and the dashboard prepares the action and shows its price before you confirm.

Which companies use it

The same tools serve different teams. A few typical uses:

How to use it, step by step

  2. Try a name in the instant check, or take the sanctions risk test to see which risks apply to your company.
  3. Upload your customers and suppliers, by hand or from Excel or CSV (from Professional), and choose the countries, tender profiles and competitors to follow.
  4. Order a dossier on the companies that matter most before you sign: the grade and the reasons appear in minutes.
  5. Receive alerts by email, in the dashboard, by API or by signed webhook, and record every review decision in the audit log.

The four packages

Each package includes everything in the previous one. Monthly payment is by card with automatic renewal; the year costs 10 months, and annual Business and Enterprise can also be paid by bank transfer.

Prices in US dollars from the pricing page on October 30, 2026, taxes excluded where applicable. The pricing page always shows the current prices.

Nothing stops at the limits of a package. Beyond them you pay $3 per instant check, $5 a month per monitored name and $490 per dossier, and the price is shown before every paid action. The $50 welcome credit is used first, so on Free a card is needed only when usage goes past it.

Where to start

Everything is on the website and works from the browser: there is nothing to install. Start from the home page or compare the packages on the pricing page. None of the services needs a card to begin, thanks to the $50 welcome credit.

A mobile app, Sanction Check: Screening Test for iPhone and Android, is in review at the stores and coming soon.

What it does not do

Unicorn Intelligence is an information tool. It shows matches, grades and documents with their sources; it does not decide for you and does not replace your legal advisers. No result is proof that a counterparty has no proceedings, and no package makes your company compliant by itself. Decisions and legal obligations remain with your company.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to install anything?

No. Unicorn Intelligence runs in the browser, and the API is available from the Business package for those who want to connect their own software.

Do I need a card to start?

No. Free has no monthly fee and needs no card. The $50 welcome credit covers usage beyond the limits; a card is asked only when usage goes past it.

What does the grade from A to E mean?

A means nothing significant in the sources consulted; B, minor signals; C, points to verify; D, high risk such as insolvency proceedings; E, a relationship that sanctions prohibit or restrict. Each grade comes with its reasons and sources.

Is there a mobile app?

The Sanction Check: Screening Test app for iPhone and Android is in review at the stores and coming soon. Until then everything works from the browser, also on a phone.

Does Unicorn Intelligence make my company compliant?

No. It is an information tool that helps your team check and document. Decisions and legal obligations, including sanctions compliance, remain with your company.

Unicorn Intelligence is an information tool. Decisions and legal obligations, including sanctions compliance, due diligence and tender participation, remain with the customer.
